Fab Friday

Yeah, it’s Sunday and I am finally writing about Friday.

Friday, you see, was a really good day. I had things scheduled all day long and each one of the things was enjoyable.

Be Hair Now!It started at 10 with a haircut from my favorite stylist (globally speaking, not just locally). It’s always fun talking to the people at the salon, and I was able to get a lot off my chest, which felt good. (There’s been faux-drama in my life that is unbloggable.)

Once my ears were lowered, I headed home to clean up for the rest of my day—which included a quick trip to the post office where I mailed off a CD of photos from South Africa to CQ (my apologies for taking so long).

The main event of the afternoon was The Simpsons Movie with Jen, Vin, Mateo, and Chaz. Jen and Vin look great—blasto is coming along. The Movie, which was advertised as starting at 2:10, did not actually start until 2:35. We suffered through 25 minutes of advertising and previews. Previews I don’t mind so much, but the commercial trying to make the National Guard look like a worthwhile community service project to join because it helps people was objectionable, mainly because too many guardsmen are getting sent to Iraq to be shot for no apparent reason—the home-based community service mission of the guard has totally been destroyed under Dear Leader’s Regime.

The movie itself was fun—lots of little amusing things with a larger message. Russ Cargill, head of the EPA, is perfect in his role, and I will be the first in line to see the film “An Irritating Truth.”

As much as the movie was fun, it was sad at the end, because I said good-bye to Jen, Vin, Mateo, and Chaz—for the last time on this trip to the States.

Dinner time was perfect, I went down to the Malibu Grill and dined with a friend—which was really cool. We were there for a very long time, eating at what would be one of Bloomington’s best restaurants, if only they got rid of the televisions in the dining room. I had an excellent Mediterranean Chicken Salad.

The day closed out better than I could have ever imagined. I headed north to Indy where something happened to me—something I’d only see happen to Mateo. But until Mateo logs on and guesses, it is a secret.

You refer to it as something you did then say it happened to you.
You have seen it happen to Mateo but never did it yourself until now. In Indianapolis.
I was thinking maybe a tattoo but Bloomington has great Tattoo Artists. Did you get a PA?

  • @ed: I will never get a tattoo–I don’t think they would look good on me. As for the PA–considering how much I love getting shots, the idea of getting a needle stuck through my penis in the name of decoration makes me feel ill.

The National Guard thing made me laugh. Between the National Guard being a thinly veiled form of indentured servitude, Bush’s heavy-handed use of executive privilege, and drunken astronauts in NASA… is there anyone out there who still believes in the sanctity of public service?? I mean, surely the ads fall on deaf ears, right?

Can’t wait to see The Simpsons.

Thanks for the clue. The really good clue. The Unicorn Gay bar in Indy. So YOU GOT A LAP DANCE FROM A CUTE GUY!RIGHT?

  • I doubt it was a PA for the reasons TQE mentions above.

Perhaps that is one of the reasons he flipped-out at CQ junior making an appearance in South Africa. LOL I’m not a big fan of needles myself, but I think just mentioning the word to TQE gives him shudders.

  • Oh, and I know what he did. Unfortunately for the rest of you, I’m sworn to secrecy, but can say you’re all way off.

    Aren’t secrets fun?
