SIMulating Discussion

I noticed that CQ asked in my blog if my German SIM card would work in the UK, essentially asking, “Why the hell did you get yet another phone number you dork?”

Answer: I’m probably going to visit the United Kingdom more than once during the next year, and using my German SIM card whilst in the UK is an expensive proposition: for phone calls we are talking in the neighborhood of €1,00/minute, and expensive text messaging. However I could purchase a British SIM Card for my phone for the princely sum of €9,99, thus engaging the ability to make calls for something more reasonable (30p per minute), as well as sending SMS/text messages for the much more reasonable rate of 10p per message.

Essentially the start-up capital investment is slightly steep, but the long term savings is well worth it.

I do have to confess that if the SIM card had cost the equivalent of €35,00 (what it cost me in Germany) I might not have been so enthusiastic to pick up the card.

I need to project the frequency of my visits to the Netherlands before I make a decision on whether or not to get a Dutch SIM card.

Randomly, at the rate I have used T-Mobile Products (US, DE, UK), as well as the companies other products (T-DSL, T-Online), I should get a free football jersey for one of he teams that has T-Mobile as a sponsor.
