Why Why Zee…

…he was saying to me—“Why, Why, Zee?”

Well, yes, I am safely in Toronto—not without a few minor misadventures: 30 minutes to pass through passport control at Schiphol. Getting stuck behind a dimwitted girl who had a cigarette lighter shaped like a bullet at security (She wasn’t surprised when it was taken away). Not finding the bus stop at Toronto’s Terminal 3.

But it all worked out well.

I got to my hotel about 5:30, grabbed a quick shower, ate dinner at some non-descript chain restaurant, watched the last 5 minutes of CBC news and the first half of the 22-minute hour, and then I went to sleep—waking briefly a few times—I was relying upon my iPhone to tell me the time, which involved math—and then when I visited the toilet, I realized that the hotel had an actual alarm clock with numbers readable at night. I turned it to face the bed.

My hotel is right next to the gayborhood, but the gayborhood has only two coffee shops that I could identify in the morning: some local shop that looked stiffly uncomfortable, and a Starbucks that although dingy (needs fresh paint, perhaps a deep cleaning), is oddly comfortable.

350+ items in my google reader, 2 emails, and two podcasts later, I am ready to start work, but first I am updating the old blog.
