Life *is* Random!

This has been a surprisingly busy week and weekend.

Last night I have no idea what happened, but it was something like 8:30 or 9 before I started cooking dinner—and while I was doing that I was on the phone to Denver getting some surprising information—which I would rant about, but I don’t want to reveal too much about my vacation before I actually get there. Although, I have to admit, that by the time I get around to the right moment in time for my rant, it will probably be lost in other things. Suffice it to say, I’m annoyed with a Denver institution right now.

However I talked to my parents—discussed plans for the familial part of my trip—I’m looking forward to seeing them, my siblings, and the non-family friend I have left in Denver. (In my defense, it’s been 11 years since I “lived” in Denver.)

under blue skies!

under blue skies!

I think I finally went to bed last night at 11, which might seem early for a Friday night, but I had breakfast plans with friends from Jena—who were in town to drop somebody off at the train station, making sure that the guy caught the right train at 8am—so we met at 8:30 in Theaterplatz, which meant that my alarm went off at 7:15.

Really, it was beautiful out at 8:30—I took some very nice photos of Goethe and Schiller with blue skies, no crowds of tourists, and sun on their faces. I usually see them in the afternoon when the lighting is more challenging. We met and then retired to a nearby bakery with an excellent weekend breakfast buffet—8€ for unlimited food and a cup of coffee. It was a great selection and I was filled up—so much so that I skipped lunch.

On my way out the door, I stopped by the bakery’s men’s room, which had some mighty peculiar tile work on display. I think the man who came in after me, thought I was strange because I started taking photos while he was busy—I got all the tiles pretty cleanly, save for one, which means that I will have to make a return trip.

Beyond that, it was a beautiful, quiet day in Weimar.

  • I don’t think about my life too often but {{gasp}} you set your alarm to go off at 7:15??? 11 is early for a Friday night? Baby Bird would never allow that! 🙂

Can’t wait to hear about your Denver trip. It is quite possible I know what “institution” annoyed you. 🙂

    • I think setting my alarm for 7:15 on a Saturday is pretty early 🙂 Weekdays I get up at 6:30…

If I see you for dinner in Berlin (oder Kaffee??) I can tell you what in Denver annoyed me… I suspect that by the time I get to a point in time where it’s appropriate to whine, I’ll decide that focusing on my complain will take away from focusing on what really matters.
