The FBI Story

Sunday morning in Lisbon, I was watching the Hollywood Channel, which featured The FBI Story, the movie version of the famous book of the same name. I remembered reading the children’s book version of the FBI Story when I was young.

However the movie, starring Jimmy Stewart, was highly disturbing.

I missed the middle portion while eating breakfast, returning to my room in time to see Jimmy Stewart announced that the FBI’s quality had dramatically increased under Hoover and that after World War II, the FBI’s focus shifted to fighting Communists. The film told the story of the hollow quarter that had microfilm, followed with extensive surveillance of the suspect and his very regular routine.

At this point, it was announced that the suspect went out one Sunday morning, and because he was a Communist, they knew he wasn’t going to church.

I wonder what Hoover’s FBI would think of me.

On the other hand, it’s not like Hoover was all that innocent.
