Today I am 14,095 days old.

No, it’s not my birthday, but it is an important day for me: My mom was 14,095 days old when she gave birth to me.

Practically speaking, it means that I am, today, exactly half of my Mother’s age.

This weekend I’m in Portugal, specifically Costa da Caparica – a smallish resort city just south of Lisbon, across the Tejo River. My general plan for the weekend is to spend as much time on the beach as possible. My specific plan is to make sure I use enough sun screen (I’ve failed on that point), and to have a couple of meals with somebody I know who lives in Lisbon.

I did make a point of calling my Mom this afternoon, from the beach, to thank her, plus I’ve sent flowers, which should be there by now.

On the other hand, I am going to go to bed early: I was on the beach for 10 or 11 hours today, and I am exhausted. It is hard work doing nothing.
