I’m happy to report that I had a most excellent weekend – for those of you who are counting, it was Christmas weekend, but I’m an atheist and, as such, observed more the passing of the winter solstice. Two of my friends are in town having joined me for “Christmas in Berlin”, as it were, [...] Half of the challenge the last couple of months has been the fact that whenever I have free time—that is to say, evenings and weekends, I have foolishly overbooked myself. Honestly, I like coming home at the end of the day, cooking dinner, eating dinner, and then relaxing for an hour or two before crawling [...] Wow – I haven’t posted since Monday morning and it’s now Thursday evening – and I will barely make it to posting this before my blog thinks it is Friday. Long story short, I’ve had a great week. I went to Fargo, North Dakota, in order to see old college friends – who moved to [...] This year I’ve lost two friends to illness. The second was just yesterday—and although I knew he was ill, the loss is sudden and unexpected. I had the great privilege of speaking with him just about a month ago and we (that is to say his wife, he, and I) were starting to think about [...] For me, when it rains, it pours. Seriously, I can go weeks without having social plans and then in one evening have two offers. This actually happened to me two weeks ago. At the same time I can go a long time without seeing guests from out of town, but… Sunday I had not one, [...] Like every decent moral individual I co-habitat with several stuffed animals. In addition to the young ones pictured here, I have a cat, a stingray and a polar bear living in my rafters. I hope that they enjoy my apartment as much as I do—it’s a fantastic apartment and it’s located in Germany’s greatest cultural [...] My first day in Bloomington I took a trip to see one of Bloomington’s Celebrity Chefs: Jen. I’m lucky enough to call Jen a friend and I’ve known her a long time – and I am a regular reader of her blog, That Pain in the Ass Vegan. Jen is, in a word, amazing, [...] |
