Don’t Be Stupid Fucking Tourists

I actually uttered this words on a bus earlier this year.

I was somewhere random and needed to go somewhere else random and, like magic, there happened to be a bus that connected the two points. You might think that this is a one off, but the professionals at BVG, the Berlin Public Transit Group, […]

Strausseefähre / F39 / Strausberg bei Berlin

Strausseefähre – F39 – Docked on the town side.

You can see the overhead power supply, and the cable guides.

For reasons that I would rather not go into right now, a couple weeks ago I did some research on Strausberg – the far east end of Berlin’s S-Bahn S5 route. While doing […]

Mid-January Rants on #fb #bvg #sbahnberlin #porn and wellness

I feel a bunch of rants coming on – so in no particular order:

First: On Facebook I hate people who send out blanket invitations to every event they’re hosting or interested in. News Flash: I don’t feel special – or actually “invited” – when all 1,000 of your friends are invited. Actually, come to […]

Wednesday Wanderings (in four photos)

Wednesday, after work, I wandered through parts of Mitte — coming up with a few photographs.

This is the entrance to the future “U-Unter den Linden” along Friedrichstrasse. The new station will replace U-Französiche Strasse, once the extension of the U5 opens, thus creating an interchange station between the new U5 and the U6.

Seoul Sunday: Bears, Trees, & Dinner

View from my hotel room in Seoul — third floor of the Hotel Manu. I would stay at Hotel Manu again.

My trip from Berlin to Seoul was long – and while none of the travel, in and of itself, was stressful, by the time I got to Seoul Saturday evening, I was completely […]

Guess Where… This one is easy!

These two pictures should give away where I am in all of… oh… a minute.

Done guessing? I’m in Hong Kong.

This is the start of my Asian Adventure – it’s a mild, easy, start: I took the long way here, flying via Tokyo on ANA. I had no […]

The wheels on the bus go round and round…

M48 at Busseallee, the last stop. Or first.

I take the bus to and from work, the M48.

My commute costs me about 55€ a month – unlimited travel in the Berlin AB zones, whether on bus, tram, U-bahn, S-bahn, or regional trains. And ferries.

I think it is an excellent value: I don’t […]

I’ve ridden all six BVG Ferry Routes, from End-to-End

As I noted two weeks ago, Berlin’s public transportation network includes ferries – and in my first three years of living here, I never had occasion to take one. But then, once I learned that F24 is a rowboat, I decided to ride.

And some how, since I rode two ferry routes that back on […]

S-Bahn, U-Bahn, Trams, and Buses … what have I forgotten? Ferries!

The Paule III (a rowboat operated BVG route F24) arriving at Spreeweisen, as seen from the other end of the route, Kruggasse.

Map of the area in question.

Saturday I finally accomplished one of my longer wants – I took a ferry.

Actually I took two.

And neither cost me a cent – […]

Cheltenham’s Greatest Secret Revealed

It cost me £1.70 to take the bus from the city centre to the train station.

This basic information should have been posted on the web somewhere.

Now it is.
