This afternoon I couldn’t get into my office – the key just would not turn. No matter how hard I tried. It was a bit inconvenient as I actually wanted to go home, but my coat was still inside the office. Not sure what to do, I popped down to the nearby administrative assistant and [...] Seriously. I spent more than a few hours yesterday morning working on a fairly large project at a nearby coffee shop – made lot a great progress. Came home, worked on some other things, mailed off the results, and forgot about it. Until I got an email asking me if I’d done anything. It seems [...] This week is great: It started, of course, Monday – I was one of but a few people at the office – and public transport was, essentially, empty. I couldn’t have imagined a better day of work – I actually got work done and had an enjoyable lunch with one of my colleagues. Since Tuesday [...] Some how it is Tuesday, almost 9pm, and I am sitting on my couch, feet splayed out on the ottoman, and thinking about bed. It’s been, on many levels, an extraordinarily good couple of days – starting with gym crap: I keep going. There are times that I question my sanity, like over the weekend [...] Hot tea, iPhone charging, MacBook, and the rest of my home environment. The view from my office window.
[...] My final long-distance guest of the Spring 2011 Guest Season has left the house. It’s been quite a whirlwind few months and I am looking forward to the next month of relative quietness—I do have a guest spending one or two nights in mid-May, but she’s from Weimar and knows Berlin better than I do. [...] Half of the challenge the last couple of months has been the fact that whenever I have free time—that is to say, evenings and weekends, I have foolishly overbooked myself. Honestly, I like coming home at the end of the day, cooking dinner, eating dinner, and then relaxing for an hour or two before crawling [...] Every weekend since January 8 and 9, I have either been packing for travel, travelling, preparing for a guest, hosting a guest, sick, or, in the case of last weekend, working hard on a project with a tight deadline. This weekend: nothing stressful planned. I took Saturday easy—doing chores that I’ve let go for three [...] Right after I got better, I sort of got slammed with work and I spent the weekend working on a very interesting project, which is prompting a field trip this upcoming weekend to yet another Berlin historic site. The work has kept me busy—while working over the weekend I took a little bit of time [...] |
