Today I went to a baseball game up in Indianapolis.
I managed to snag a terrific seat in the front row for $12 a few hours before the game at Victory Field. The seat had grand visibility, and it was, most importantly, in the shade from 6:00 onward. Had I sat in the identical seat along first base, I would have fried.
Happily it was a special promotion night. I called it, the “Everything salty is on sale for a buck night,” they called it the “Monday Dollar Menu” night, where “Fans may purchase hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, Cracker Jack or regular nachos for only one dollar each!” (There was a burdensome limit of no more than four of any one item being purchased at a time.)
After arriving in the vicinity of my seat, I saddled up to the bar – snack bar, that is, and decided that Cracker Jacks would make the perfect dessert for my evening. Of course, I needed something to wash it down-water at $2.75 (or was it $3.75?) was the answer. I had considered beer, but decided that $5 was a bit excessive.
After that I made my way to my seat and took in the field. About the only downside to my seat was before the game when people were crowding around the dugout trying to get player autographs. I took a few pictures and emailed them to myself. Those photos are here.
The game itself was fun, although the tribe lost after leading 1-0 through 8 innings. In the top of the ninth the Indian’s pitcher had a spot of trouble and two runs scored on a home run.
I would write more, but my body is giving out-it is way past my bed time.
Car News: The principle reason I went up to Indy was in order to get the oil changed in my car, plus whatever else the Saturn dealer recommended so that when I went to sell the car, it would be in tip top shape. It seems the only additional thing I had to have done was to have the tires rotated. Not bad at all. I also saw the salesman who originally sold me the car over four years ago.
Amusingly Adam asked me if I knew anyone that would like to buy his Saturn. I asked him if he knew anyone that wanted to buy my Cavalier. Mechanically they are the same car.
His I think it $6K and mine is $9K.
Anyone need a car? 🙂
9k for a cavalier?? are you nuts? those a crap and lose value after they are off the lot…but that’s just my opinion, hohum.
I’m not in the market for a Crapalier either :).
But I do remember meeting adam’s gay car salesman in Greenwood back in early 99 !
crapalier! how clever! you have amused me!
thanks 😀
Jerry — He’s been promoted. He’s now director of financing or something like that. Way cool Tim!
It may be a Crapalier but it has the same drive train that is in that Saturn that I’m sure you’d all rave about.
Gee Adam, I know they are ribbing, but with friends like that, who needs enemies.
Maybe I should just keep it. Gets 37 MPG and only costs me about 15 bucks to fill up each week as opposed to the 50 bucks everyone else is paying these days to fill up their 4×4’s that never go off road.
I’m just getting rid of it because my life circumstances have changed rather quickly recently and I no longer need two cars.
Oh “Chris C” how you are so wrong. 😉 I don’t rave about saturns…I refuse to own “american” cars. But then again I’m a snob.
If I weren’t against everything SUV I would buy a horribly heinous H2 and take you for a ride in it! 😛
Don’t always assume, it only makes an ass out of yourself. (only kidding)

ps. I’m rather harmless and don’t intend to be rude…I’m just honest and blunt which I see now that doesn’t come across well. No need to be so sensitive 😀
Thank you koko. 🙂 Sorry, I should be a bit more restrained. Having big life issues presently and throwing myself my yearly pity. So everyone else, carry-on!
In other news… KaChing! One of my resumes got a hit! So I’m happy (maybe ending aforementioned pity party). Is Milwaukee a bad place? It’s close to Chicago and my dad, so perhaps not so bad. It might get me out of the hell that is being gay in the south. Is being gay in the midwest any easier? Bueller? Bueller?
I’m usually able to take midwestern conservatism much better than that which is served in NC/VA. I find it more like the kind I found in Wyoming and actually fits my beliefs a bit better. I tend to be fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
Chris – Playing nice with the other kiddies now. 🙂
Chris,
Adam said you were a fabulous person and I trust his judgment…so you’re okay now 🙂
Good luck on the job hunt as for that is what I’m doing right now too. I’ve applied for my first job ever (all other jobs have found me so I’ve never actually had to apply to anything). This whole waiting while they screen resume thing is rather annoying, why can’t they just choose me and get it over with? I’m far superior compared to the other applicants…seriously. *sigh*
What kind of jobsey are you seeking?

*hands lolly pop to new nice person*
Ah, I will never get rid of my car. The ol’ Echo is getting 40 mph on the highway — with the A/C on!
Still waiting for SUV hybrid from Toyota…
