Bureaucracy II

Friday was a pretty busy day. I woke up at some obscene hour-5:30, as I recall, and checked email and other mundane stuff before I headed over to the train station. I needed to catch the 8:08 train to Weimar in order to hang out with J and finish up whatever work I needed to […]

Busy Days

I was really busy yesterday (phone service, administrative stuff) and didn’t get a chance to post. I’m leaving in a few minutes so I don’t have time to write anything else right now.

PS- Thanks Mom for making me learn touch typing! It helps because I’ve converted this computer to US English as its standard, […]

Cheney Curses!

Per CNN.com: Cheney Cursed out Senator Leahy using the F-word! Naturally, the Vice President’s office has said only that there was a “frank exchange of views.”

That phrase comes to mind for […]

Today’s Plans

Today I will be registering with the police, opening a bank account, making decisions about the phone, and… with any luck, figuring out how not to pay for two televisions at my new home. Should be a barrel of fun!

Why Am I Here?

Ok, Germany is a really nice place and the people I’ve met have all been terrific, yet as I walked the streets of Weimar today with Doga, I was dogged with the question, why am I doing this. I know no German, my language acquisition skills are rather poor, and I will be signing contracts […]

Time Difference

FYI, Germany is currently +7 hours from Hoosier Standard Time. In the winter that will change to +6, except in Evansville, which of course is on Central Adjusting-Like-It-Should Time.

IND-CVG-FRA, part 2

I would have had patience with the delay, if it weren’t for the fact that Delta‘s employees weren’t so clueless and outright lied to me. The sole point of comfort was that their lying was not due to maliciousness, it was due to stupidity.

The flight from Indianapolis (IND) to Cincinnati (CVG, actually Covington, Kentucky) […]
