Expatriate

Since I’m moving to Germany, I’ve started to investigate web sites that will help me with the transition. One that I’ve encountered before is Expatica. I just registered today, using a newly formed email address for my EU life. I just signed up for their newsletters, and I suspect I will be getting more than […]

Travel Lists

Countries I have visited (in order of visitation): United States, Mexico, Canada, Netherlands, Belgium, United Kingdom (England, Scotland), Germany, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, France, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, and Austria. (13 Countries, one fewer than one of my sisters: a situation that needs to be rectified.)

States I have yet to visit: Alaska, Hawaii, North Dakota, Rhode […]

4,488 miles

Bloomington (BMG) to Erfurt (ERF), the closest airports to where I am and to where I am going, maps out to 4,488 miles.

Randomness

I would love to know why my body is insisting upon waking up every morning for the last two weeks at 4am. I suppose I could try and fight it-I usually get up and check my email, but 4am is a pretty good lay-in in Germany – I’m waking at 11am their time. Too bad […]

(Virgin)ia Girls and Boys

Via Fark: Apparently there’s a problem with men having sex with girls in Virginia — young girls. So they’ve started telling men “No Sex With Young Girls,” complete with the “Isn’t she a little young?” web site.

Colonial Pictures

Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

I apologize for taking so long to post these Colonial Williamsburg photos, but here you are–my trip in March, as already described.

This brass map of Colonial Williamsburg gives you a pretty good idea of the layout of the place. The collection of weapons in the entry way of the Governor’s Palace is meant to […]

Crying Books

Now that I’ve written about nearly crying in a real life situation, it occurs to me that I am driven to tears by select books. This was driven home today because I was rereading one of three books that I know can do this to me consistently: Mark Sanderson‘s Wrong Rooms.

Wrong Rooms is an […]

Winter Clothes

I’ve probably already said it, but moving 4,500 miles makes you consider what you’re taking with you. Fortunately I have two trips in which to cram as much crap as I want can. The first is next week.

Today I started packing my big suitcase with clothing; specifically winter clothing. I’m starting to make choices. […]

Daily Review

Today was a good day – the neighbor helped me power-wash the patio – it is now incredibly clean. I also went over to the FedEx offices to correct a problem with customs paperwork on a package I shipped to Germany yesterday. I also took a long nap-which helped me catch up on some of […]
