Gettin’ Better Dudes!

I can tell that I am getting better – albeit not back to 100% yet. This morning when I woke up and looked around my bedroom and the apartment, I noticed how much I had let it go. I grabbed a shower and spent the next hour picking up the apartment and doing the dishes. The only thing I didn’t do was clean my room – I should be able to get it done in about an hour tonight once I get home.

Of course, I would have waited to do all of it tonight if it weren’t for the fact that my roommate is coming by for a week and I wanted to make sure it wasn’t too big of a pigsty before he arrives. I think I can excuse my room, but really, the rest of the apartment need not look too messy.

I left the apartment in time to catch the 8:49 train to the main Weimar station-it was on time. However, I fell victim to the late running 9:02 train from Weimar to Jena West. It was 10 minutes late leaving Weimar and 15 when I got to Jena West. The engineer had a good sense of humor as well-he stopped as far down the platform as he could, thus forcing everybody who got off to hike at least 150 meters back to the stairs in order to get to the other side.

Once at the office I managed to get my desk a wee bit cleaner and I decided I should examine my German course schedule a bit more carefully. I was dismayed to discover that after the first week of German I have a two week vacation from class-it seems that there is a fall break for students in my state of Thüringen.

Dismayed is the wrong attitude, so here goes the right attitude for students:

If all goes well, I should be able to squeeze in a visit to the University of Trier during that time period.

More later? I need to get actual work done.
