Future and Present Travel

Today is a traveling day-I am off to Rotterdam, and like two ships passing in the night, my flatmate will be traveling from The Netherlands to the flat. We’ll probably close at 260 kilometers an hour, somewhere between Frankfurt and Köln.

In other words, I won’t be posting much today, but I will have short postings everyday the rest of the week because I should have full internet access both where I am working and where I am staying.

This weekend I started doing preliminary research on a trip to the Baltic States of Estonia and Lativa-and might throw in Lithuania as well. The projected trip would be something like this: fly from Berlin to Tallinn (Estonia), then fly from Tallinn to Vilnius (Lithuania), then take the train to Riga (Lativa), and then fly back to Berlin. I’d guess such a trip would take about 9 or 10 days.

(error, i forgot to publish this one)

World traveler you are… I’m thinking Peru this year. Part of my visit every continent routine.

I’m also starting to get moving on maxing out frequent flyer programs. I’m going to see if I can actually get a ticket without flying in the United program. Right now, and I think this one will work better, I’m getting a Delta SkyMiles credit card and will start putting all my normal purchases on it like I do with my debit card now. Then I’ll just write a check at the end of the month. I’m good with money, so this should just be a simple matter of changing the card I use.

I estimate 15K mi/yr from my normal, everyday purchases. I should have about 50K mi by this time next year. That’s enough for two domestic round trips in the US I think.
