There was quite a storm that blew threw Jena today–from start to finish it took about ten minutes.
Perhaps the most impressive thing about this storm is that it was the first time I’ve ever seen a full snow storm combined with lightening and thunder (seen and heard).
You can see the wall of snow approaching in the attached photograph. If you click through to JaBB’s blog entry, “Wintermezzo,” about the storm, you can see a short video of the snow and then what it looked like after the storm.
Much of the snow has already melted, but not all.
Gee, it snowed here last night too. The weather people didn’t expect it. I woke up and looked caught what looked like my dogwood trees blooming and then on closer inspection it was just snow.
how fun! i’ve never seen anything like that!
oooooo!
So that is you posting on Jabbas blog..lol
I have seen it snow and lightning with thunder here in Indiana at least three different times, but then I am very old:)It does seem strange. Once, a couple of years ago we even had snow rollers. There were 90 year olds that had never seenthem before but the weather person said they do happen from time to time but conditions must be just right. We had a light snow then a layer of freezing rain. Then it all froze together. the next day it snowed a couple of inches, then the wind blew. All of the open fields had snowballs all over them. Some were as big as beach balls. The wind had rolled the snow up into balls just lke a child making a snowman. It was something to see! Ed
I remember those snowballs Ed is talking about, they were strange. That picture of the snow coming to Jena looks very surreal. It looks magical and terrifying at the same time!
That was a pretty cool pix.
That was me on the JaBB blog…
I remember hearing about the snowballs… I must have been out of town when they happened.
