Most Interesting

Mosteiro dos Jerónimimos

According to Flickr’s algorithms the attached photo is the most interesting photo in my stream of 636 photos.

I find it odd.

The photo is from the Monastery in Lisbon, and I snapped it coming out of the cafeteria room (I forget the technical name, but it’s not a cafeteria today). I was there with Ingrid and Andre.

Personally, when I posted the photograph I thought it was below average. First of all, the wall on the left is rather ugly. It is there because I need to prop the camera against something—I was using a long exposure setting, and my hands shake too much. Secondly, I didn’t like how the light washed out the people and things at the far end of the corridor.

I don’t know about the first point, but apparently the second is what has made the photo liked by so many (including five favorites!). I was told it is impressionistic.

Which is fine and dandy.

On the other hand, my most viewed photo appeals to much baser instincts.

Including mine.

Yum!
