Story 1: CNN: Monsters of pop take Eurovision title
ATHENS, Greece (AP) — There’s a giant stadium, highly toned participants, intense rivalry and flag-waving fans from many nations.
It’s not the Olympics: It’s the Eurovision Song Contest, the annual kitsch extravaganza, known for its bland dance music and bubble-gum pop, that sees acts from 24 countries face off before tens of millions of television viewers.
…
Regarded by many as the contest good taste forgot, Eurovision is adored by fans of camp everywhere….
Story 2: Discord over ‘protest’ Eurovision vote
One day after five Finns in monster masks edged out a Russian heartthrob at Europe’s largest and most-watched pop music contest, some Russians complained Sunday that the vote was skewed against their country.
Story 3: All hail to the lizard kings of Eurovision
Any doubts that the Eurovision Song Contest is still a squeaky clean, bubble-gum pop fiesta were laid to rest last night when judges across the Continent voted overwhelmingly for Lordi, a hitherto barely known but outrageously monstrous heavy-metal band from Finland.
Story 4:
I like Romania’s entry and of course from Sweden as well. If it were Queentastic representing Norway probably might stood up a chance of warding off those creatures with queer power. But oh well the Norwegians chose a lousy song even though she (Christine Gullbrandsen) is from Bergen, my nationalistic tendencies was put off by her performance.
Sweden’s contestant is slightly suspect to me– she once said that “homosexuality would always remain ‘unnatural’ to her.”
Yeah since she is a highly religious woman who has string of divorces and marriages with me who are also religious (previous husband was a Norwegian priest) quite ironic isnt it? But most religious people are the ones who are highly sexual! lol
