Now that the day of drunkenness is almost over, it’s time to look forward to the next major event in Weimar, which happens to be tomorrow.
The Queen of Germany Election, 2006, is being held tomorrow (May 26) night right here in Weimar at the Weimar Atrium.
It’s part of the exciting evening planned for Weimar as the Kulturstadt Europas (European Culture City) has its “Shopping Nacht” (e.g. Shopping Night), which is a long shopping night—yes, on this special occasion stores are open past their usual closing hour of 8. For one night, and one night only, the stores will be open until midnight!
To help the shopping experience, not only will there be the Queen of Germany contest, there will be a hypnosis show (“I command thee to do more shopping.”), live music, more crap, additional crap, “und natürlich kostenlose Parkplätze.”
The event is sponsored by two different banks, the Hilton, and a bunch of other things, including bibop, which is one of those horrid beer-cola mix drinks.
If I can find somebody to go with, I think I might go see the Queen of Germany election. It’s the kind of wacky fun I often get perverse enjoyment from watching.

I don’t think there was any special pricing today… unless it was the especially high prices for bratwurst and beer on the streets.
