I got up this morning at 8:30, and got back in the mode of uploading pictures to Flickr. Yes, I’ve uploaded a ton of pictures to my Flickr account, some from Weimar, some from the States, uploaded in no particular order. You can see examples of recent Dipol graffiti work—stencils I hadn’t seen before leaving for Bloomington, as well as a number of older stencils from parts of town I hadn’t visited before.
Due to my slowness, I missed not just the anti-Nazi protest, but the Nazi protest as well today. Which was fine—since I’m not a citizen of Germany I’d rather stay out of political issues. That’s not to say I’m not opposed to Nazis, it’s just that I don’t think I need to be involved unless the Nazis look like they might get some power.
I saw some of the anti-Nazi protesters last night as I was taking a long walk around Weimar. I have to say that the anti-Nazi protestors, the grunge variety that is, are awfully cute. I saw two with large orange mohawks, which were every cute—actually very hot! It got me thinking, when you fundamentally get down to it, the NeoNazis and the gunge anti-Nazis have a lot in common: both wear black and both have hair that attracts my attention. They also have something else in common: both need to take more frequent showers. The orange-mohawked boys were cute—but I suspect they also need to take showers. Maybe I am presuming too much. I make the same assumptions about the Neo-Nazis. Given my druthers, I’d rather not get that close to Neo-Nazis, anti-Nazis are more likely.
Anyhow, once I got out of the house, I headed for a long walk—walking downtown where I picked up my first Thüringen Bratwurst since returning from the States. From there I headed across the Ilm River and found myself wandering trough a part of Weimar I’d somehow missed—finding Dipol graffiti along the way.
I also found a Jewish Cemetary that had been restored in 1983 (who said the Communists did no good?). It seemed wholly appropriate considering the goings on in Weimar this weekend. I paused, went through the gate, and found myself looking at a few headstones dating back to before World War II. The sign at the entrance reminds us of the Pogromnacht (Crystal Night) back on November 9, 1938.
After awhile I found myself at the Weimar Atrium, where I popped into Saturn (Think high class Best Buy) and bought a 1 gigabyte card for my digital camera—this is in preparation for my upcoming trip to Armenia. Before today I only had a 128 megabyte card for the camera, which meant that I would keep my laptop with me on my trips, all so that I could take the photos off my camera and take more photos the next day. The laptop is not going with me to Armenia—I have ten days in Armenia and I am trying to take as little as possible. I’ll be washing socks and underwear whilst buying nothing (except toothpaste).
Random Musing: Before I quit, I just wanted to say that I’ve missed Weimar and my Weimar Office. The cute DPD delivery driver is still in town, as is one of the Weimar Office customers I’ve described before—the man who knows how to dress. Friday, while waiting for his coffee, he looked a bit tired—but man, he knows how to pick clothing. He was wearing an olive green t-shirt that accents his body quite nicely. As for the DPD delivery driver, I saw him as I was walking to the office but he didn’t make any deliveries to the office whilst I was there.
I checked your flickr account and you have nice pictures there. I used to use my flickr account but since some of my readers cant seem to view my pictures on flickr so I moved to photobucket instead. Anyway, goodluck on your trip to Armenia. I also stacked a 2gb card on my camera before i went to Paris. hehehehehe
“I’ll be washing socks and underwear whilst buying nothing (except toothpaste).”
Thanks for making it clear that you do indeed wash your panties and that you won’t be buying any used panties :D:D
On a sidenote, I am lame and only have a 512mb card for my camera…though it hold an amazing amount of photos, even at a high res. I can’t wait to see your photos!! xoxoxoxoxoxo
Koko–I don’t think I ever said that I don’t wash panties and that I won’t be buying used underwear.
The only thing I did say in this post is that I will be washing my underwear in Armenia and that I will not be buying much, beyond toothpaste, whilst there.
