I never posted it on the blog, but on Wednesday, I was on my way home from the office and I managed to do something really stupid.
It was raining out, something I hadn’t noticed because the blinds in my office were down. So upon leaving, I fished out my umbrella, which kept me mostly dry as well as the inside part of my backpack.
The outside part was a different story, and I’d forgotten that my iPod was stored there.
I thought I was screwed—I took it home and it was unresponsive to electrical input, other than the fact that the screen flashed randomly and wildly. I left it on my desk in full sunlight and forgot about it until this morning, when I saw it, plugged it in and it started charging.
It appears to have dried out and become fully functional again!
I am overjoyed—it was the perfect start to what became a perfect day—low humidity, perfect temperatures, a picnic in the park, and lots of sunshine.
I may have spoken too quickly.
Grrrrr.
Perhaps it just misses being in North Carolina?
I worked at PTS Electronics for a while on cell phones and those that got wet soon became victims of corrosion. I don’t know about I-Pods but it needs to be opened and dried out inside, probably by a trained Electronics Technician.
