Today was one of those odd days in which I talked to a stranger on the train—principally because she was intently studying an English language instructor’s manual—on her way, as it turns out, to teach English. A Filipino living in Jena, it turns out that we have a common love of David Sedaris and The Amazing Race.
It made my train ride home nicer than normal.
That said, I am still on the post-Berlin emotional high, despite the fact that I seem to be nursing a mild cold that so far has only lingered in the back of my throat. It’s a tattletale sign of illness that I’ve been doing my best to ignore since it cropped up in Berlin. In other words, it wasn’t severe enough to slow me down during the day but it is annoying enough to slow me down right now in the evening.
Oh well…
