As MT has already noted, Denver is getting socked with another blizzard: anywhere from 12 to 24 inches of snow are expected in the next day or so. This snow is falling on top of the snow that is already there: in the case of my folk’s house, I would estimate that we currently have 18 inches of snow sitting on the ground (a loss of about 6 inches due to melting and compacting).
This isn’t so bad in the backyard, but on the side streets of Denver, this spells disaster. The street in front of my folk’s house is rutted and cars with low clearances (see both cars in the family) can have quite a challenge just making it down the street. Stick more snow on top of this and it will become a nightmare.
On the upside, today I slipped out with an old friend and had a fantastic lunch, visited the new Tattered Cover, and then got my hair cut. In the four hours I was out of the house, the nearby main street went from having black asphalt traffic lanes to having slushy snow on it.
I am glad to be at the homestead: the larder is stocked, so at least we will not starve.
At this rate you’ll need to hire a dog sled team to mush out to Kansas City so you return to Europe.
Gary wants you to send some snow our way. Me? I say keep the damned stuff. 😉
Sorry for the _very_ late comment. *sigh* Tattered Cover! I will think of that the next time someone asks me what I miss in America.
