Today was a rather quiet day, in most respects. There were really two principal things that I did: I went to the Tate Modern and went to see The History Boys. Along the way, I did some shopping at Foyles, wandered the streets, and took a Walk of the University Quarter.
Of all the museums in London, hands down my favorite is the Tate Modern—I could spend hours in the museum and never get bored—and I did. My main goal for the Tate Modern was to see the show, “Test Site.”
I’ve alluded to it before—“Test Site” is the set of enormous slides by Carsten Höller that dominate the Turbine Room at the museum—and I rode the slides from level 5, 4, and 3—in that order. In other words, starting with the longest slide—it was awesome being a kid again, but I’m not sure I completely understand the cultural significance of the art.
The evening was a trip to see The History Boys—a show I knew nothing about before going, and can now safely say that it was well worth it. Not wanting to spoil it, I will say that the message of the show was interesting and provocative.
Hm, that seems interesting. I love museums! I hope you can show me photos the next time we meet.
yay that looks like a lot of fun!!
All of the Tate Modern photos are are on my Flickr pages–I still have others to upload.
