Ye Olde Time Lag.

I have to say that most of the time it doesn’t bother me that New York is six hours behind me.

Unfortunately, in the past week it’s been slightly annoying because over my dinner hour I have started receiving a number of important emails that require rapid response, which ends up keeping me up a bit later than I would normally like. It’s actually affected my sleep and my attitude a bit in the past week with me become a bit more irritable than normal.

Yesterday I suddenly realized that my life is acquiring another time zone, as I have gained a new colleague for a project I am working on. Her fax machine’s country code is +63.

I suppose that there are at least two semi-regular readers of my blog that will recognize the country code immediately.

For the rest of you, it’s The Philippines.

  • Yup! It is indeed Philippines!

  • The Phillipines… I didn’t know the country code but I do have a friend there.

I would think that people working with you across many time zones would understand there may be an expectation that they won’t get an immediate respose.

Personally, I’d like to live in your time zone and do the job I do now. The people could send me their requests and the data would be waiting for them when they got into their office the following morning.

  • CQ: Right now there is a major push on a big project and the faster questions get answered the faster the whole project gets completed. It will be back to normal in a couple of weeks.
