WKRP

Today I am taking a one night holiday trip to Cincinnati—to partake of three of its most famous attractions.

The hotel should have free wifi, so expect photos and more.

Cincy is my favorite city. I love the old world Findley Market on Race street. I hope they have the fountain working. It was under repair the last time I was there. I don’t care for baseball but to watch the Reds in person is a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy the Queen City.

  • Ah, the Queen City!

I attended music school there in the mid-70s. Then I revisited in ’01 and ’05 with “Phantom”. It’s amazing to me that the city is essentially unchanged in all those years.

Do you know the Mount Adams neighborhood? Residents used to boast that it was a “mini San Francisco”. I wonder if it’s still the same.

    Have fun!

How funny – a friend and I were talking about WKRP a few days ago.

Take lots of photos and tell Dr Johnny Fever I said HI.

Baby, if you’ve ever wondered, wondered what ever became of me, I’m living on the air in Cincinnati, Cincinnati WKRP! Got tired of packing and unpacking, town to town up and down the dial, maybe you and me were never meant to be, just maybe think of me once in awhile, I’m at WKRP in Cincinnati!

  • @ed: Cincy is a Queen City? We’ve got a pretty clear agenda of three things to visit, and we’ve knocked one of the three off. The other two will be revealed later, although only one will be seriously blogged.

@Cameron: I won’t be exploring Cincy that way–Elizabeth is straight and we haven’t had time to do a lot of research into things to do in Cincy.

@J: Photos are being taken. I cannot wait for tomorrow’s adventures! I loved the show… both the old and the new…

    @ed: Thanks for the memories!

  • My apologies for not being more specific about Mt. Adams in its resemblance to SF. I was not referring to it in a gay way; rather, the physical environment of hills Victorian architecture, “bohemian” cafés and shops is more what I was trying to say.

  • @cameron: I really know very little about Cincy: it was never on my personal map, and it really isn’t on my personal map in a big way now. Maybe one day I will return, but for now, I will stay away.

  • Adam…I spent quite a few weekends in Cincinnati over the years.

You aren’t missing a thing. Jerry Springer was even mayor once.

Cincinnati was once called the “Queen of the West” eventually shortened to “The Queen City.”

    I prefer “Porkopolis.”

  • Porkopolis? It must have one heck of an interesting history.
