Die Bahn’s train drivers are going on strike from 2am Thursday through 2am Saturday.
Nice, eh?
I was supposed to go to Dresden Friday afternoon to take part in this year’s Whiney Expat Blogger Meet-Up, but because of the strike, I cannot fathom making it on Friday: I’ll catch an early train Saturday morning and hope that it gets there at 11:00, as scheduled, just in time for the meet-up events to get underway.
It is amazing that this is the first time that the driver’s strikes have negatively affected me: I was planning on skipping the office tomorrow, but because of the strike, I think I will head in to do some minor things that I was going to do Thursday.
Talk about frustration!
At least I am not stuck in Rotterdam.
There will be some guaranteed trains running on the main routes (such as Dresden-Weimar-Frankfurt), every hour or so, manned with good ol’ Beamten. The emergency timetable will be online tomorrow afternoon at bahn.de/blitz/view
@Sebastian: Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately my quick read of the schedule suggests that there will be no trains between Frankfurt and Dresden…
