I am home safely.
Happily the trip across the ocean was uneventful and quick—we departed on time, got deiced, and arrived early in Frankfurt. I slept as much as I could, but it wasn’t enough, so shortly after I got back to Weimar, I took a nap. When I fell asleep at 1:30, it was raining. When I woke up at 5, there were 3 inches of snow on the ground.
The snow was a surprise to me—I’d made arrangements, whilst lying in bed, to drop some things at a friend’s house. Needless to say, when I got out of bed and opened the window shade, I had second thoughts. However, after stale plane air, stale train air, and stale apartment air, the fresh cold air did me a world of good. Unfortunately it was a really wet and really heavy snow, so I slid my way down the unclear sidewalks. Traffic in some parts was so heavy and slow that I could only cross at the lights.
After dropping the items off, I stopped by the supermarket and returned home for an evening of catching up.
Today was more of the same, just with work related stuff. Emails are still backed up—tomorrow I should be able to polish them off and get myself square.
Meanwhile, just when I thought all was quiet on the travel front, it appears I have a trip coming up quite soon. Fortunately I’ll be heading some place nice for work, and I should be able to extend the trip for a couple of days to enjoy what the destination has on offer.
