My flight from Berlin to New York/JFK was not without its amusing points.
This past weekend Berlin hosted Berlinale, an international film festival and by my casual observation, I would estimate that approximately two-thirds of the plane were people returning to the States having attended the Berlinale.
Not to be too quick to judge on the basis of stereotypes, but I felt that the attendees were easy to identify based on attire. They all wore similar glasses, wore similarly hip clothing, and all had similar attitudes, not to mention that a lot of them were toting around Berlinale tote bags—which helped make the identification even easier.
Now, out of the 66% of the plane that represented the Berlinale, they fell into three distinct (from my perspective) groups:
- The women who tended to think that they were incredibly fashionable despite the fact that their clothing sent the opposite message. Any woman-Berlinale attendee automatically fell into this group.
- The heterosexual men who wore somewhat fashionable clothing and numbered, perhaps, 10.
- The homosexual men who dominated the other two groups, perhaps by a ratio of 3:1.
Seriously, the plane was practically on fire.
Did you throw fuel onto it?
Between the Berlinale Fags, the Jet Fuel, and Me, the plane should have spontaneously combusted.
Thanks for that last sentence, I’ve needed a REAL good laugh.
This year’s Berlinale was great although some of the stuff was a bit of a disappointment, don’t you think?
