I’m about to leave for Hannover–my first time in the city, save for a train connection (maybe two) in the past. After Hannover, I’ll be off to Rotterdam.
The new apartment is essentially unpacked, although I do have a few issues:
- I learned Saturday morning that the lowest point of the building’s laundry room is not at the drain. This fact was learned because it appears my washing machine sprung a leak whilst being moved. The leak appears to be at the output end. I will have to get this fixed upon my return.
- My DVD player is, essentially, dead. I knew this before I moved and I thought I could overlook its quirks, but I cannot. I’d like a DVD player that I can de-regionalize and that has HDMI output since I have an HDTV. Do any of my European/German readers have any suggestions?
- My bathtub is in the middle of the bathroom and it comes with, like all German bathtubs, a shower head. However, I need to learn how to be extra careful whilst bathing. This bathroom has a wooden floor and I am terrified that I will damage the floor by getting water on it. I’m getting better, but this is my leading nightmare within the apartment.
Meanwhile I hope everybody has a great Sunday. I’ll be riding the rails.
Does HDMI make that much difference for DVD (as opposed to Blu-Ray)? I just got a new DVD player last month, and decided HDMI wasn’t worth the extra cost. I got a Phillips DVP3260 for about 50€, and it de-regionalized quite nicely.
Good question–I think that ones with HDMI output are more likely to have the upscaling technology that makes it put out pictures worthy of the HDTV screen — I have a full HD tv as well.. I will have to consult my technical friends to make sure I haven’t messed anything up!
