Coffee Community

It’s 9:15, and I have been at Caribou Coffee on Broadway since it opened at 6:30.

Yes, that’s early—especially for a Saturday morning, but I crashed and burned last night, falling asleep before 11. There was no dancing involved, just pure beautiful jetlag that resulted in me waking up at 4, when I spent some time getting caught up on email and my feeds before taking a quick shower and heading over to the coffee shop.

The 6:30 opening time works perfectly with my body clock right now.

I’ve actually been incredibly productive this morning—getting a lot of backlogged work completed—getting me closer and closer to being caught up.

Cue a deluge of work that will soon have me drowning…

One of the things I really like about coffee shops like this is the sense of community one can feel just being in the same spot several days. I can tell you that the same men have sat at the same tables both yesterday and today—even though we are talking about a weekday/weekend day switch. These tend to be older men that look like they are retired, so its entirely plausible.

Of course it reminds me of Gay Dazbog in Denver, down to the fact that I am in a very gay coffee shop. There might be a straight male in here, but I doubt it.

That said, I remain only tangentially involved. Here for a week, then back in Weimar. I’ll be a fixture for a week, but come next Saturday the regulars probably won’t miss me.

They won’t even remember me.

Next Fridays Plan...

Next Friday's Plan...

Of course, next Saturday I’ll be spending time with the Cynical Queer—recovering from watching the Soap Box Derby on Labor Day.

Hey, I know of the Dazbog’s that you are talking about in Denver, and I’m glad you are keeping it real with great coffee shop ideas. Thank you!

    • Hi Chuggin,

Thanks for your comment. I have removed the commercial link that you accidentally included in your post.
