Macro Mode Play
 Polination, in action.
I’ve been inspired by Prashanth (Flickr) to go out and play with the macro mode on my camera—and last week while hiking along an old rail-bed, I paused to reflect and to take the above photo. It’s even better in “large” format—although “original” is also an option.

Hmm, I wonder if my camera has that option? Off to check.
Pretty! My camera has that option too. I think it might be standard on a lot of the newish digital cameras.
OK, I’m apparently a digicam luddite… what is macro mode?
@starman1695: All modern digital cameras probably have it.
@disenchanted: I knew my camera had it, I’ve used it, but I’ve recently discovered a whole set of options that I didn’t know my camera had. It’s made for many great photos!
@Cynical Queer: it’s the mode that lets you take photos of small things, up close, and in focus. It often has the effect of making things in the distance blurry–I can’t tell you why, but it has to do with the focus… keeping in mind, of course, that distance is relative. The flower that the bee is sitting on is not very big but a lot of it is out of focus.
good job Adam!…
@cynical queer: Macro makes micro things big by focusing the entire scene onto the subject. The rest becomes blurred because of the extreme minute focus.
