I’m happy to report that I’m on my way home from my weekend away in Hamburg.
This weekend was the annual “Whiney Expatriate Blogger Unmissable Meetup,” an even where a number of expatriate bloggers get together and complain—or at least gossip.
Each year a hardworking local team puts together an amazing program and all I have to do is show up and enjoy the fun. I haven’t yet (so far) had to plan anything, make lists of recommended hotels, pick restaurants, or deal with any of the little details that makes the difference between a bunch of people happening to come together at the same time and an enjoyable gathering of people.
From start to finish it was a wonderfully relaxing and informative weekend, which, for early arrivals like me, included a side trip to Lüneburg Friday, in addition to the other regularly scheduled events like dinners, lunches, breakfasts, and a walking tour of Hamburg.
I’ll have more to say later, but off the top I want to thank our hosts: Ian in Hamburg (Letters Home), PapaScott (PapaScott), Mandi (No Apathy Allowed), and Emily (Transkitten).
Right now, I must confess, that I am exhausted. After three late nights and three (relatively) early mornings, my body is telling me it’s time to snooze. Instead I am fighting to stay away so that once I get home I can take a nap in my own bed.
The hosts really did do an awesome job. We had a lot of fun and I’m so glad we got to meet face to face. Definitely pretty exhausted after everything…and I didn’t even party as hard as you!
And now, over to the Berlin gang for next year! Does that count as the earliest vote yet?
Seconded! 🙂
Thirdeded? 🙂
Tiffany – It was swell meeting you and your +1. It took me until Tuesday morning before I felt normal again. What an exhausting weekend.
ian, Emily, and Snoooker – I’m game.
[…] happened to come to be this week, but essentially I remember that Airbus was in Hamburg after the Whiney Expatriate Blogger Meet-Up, and then I sort of started making plans, but nothing ever came of it. Then, during my housewarming […]
