It feels like a lot longer ago, but last Sunday I, along with my roommates for the weekend (Snooker in Berlin, the Regensbloggers, and the Zurikas), was struggling to catch the ferry to the closing WEBUM/WEBMU 2010 Brunch on the Alster in Hamburg.
We were struggling because Saturday night was my annual expedition where I take a bunch of expatriates to a gay bar.
Honestly, it’s tough picking a bar from a distance. A Hamburger told me that there were some good leather and fisting bars in the city, but I decided that since the goal is to talk, my fellow inexperienced (not that I am experienced) expatriates might spend the entire evening with their mouths open out of shock and not from talking.
This year’s gay bar was the M&V, a relatively quiet, decent gay bar located at Lange Reihe 22, near the Hamburg Hauptbahnhof. Complete with a sassy and competent waiter (I believe we had Martin), it was ideal.
Joining my roommates for the weekend and me at the gay bar: J of Germany Doesn’t Suck—who enjoys the traditional gay bar trek—and more: Claire, Tiffany, PapaScott, Mandi, Resident Evil, HeisseScheisse, Jentry, Emily, and… gosh, I hope I’m not forgetting anybody.
I don’t dare speak for everybody, but I hope that there’s another TQEQE next year, wherever next year is.
The gay bar was a great pick. I had such a fun time. And the waiter was faaaaabulousss! He had the right amount of sass, especially how we wouldn’t let people order boring drinks. Can’t wait for next year. 🙂
That bartender was an absolute hoot!
You forgot Paris. We’ll always have Paris…
Resident Evil: I’m looking forward to seeing you at next year’s event.
J: no doubt
Scott: I’ll be waiting for you in Paris.
