Seriously.
Apparently energy-saving light bulbs do not like to be installed in bathroom fixtures. The electricity was fine. The switch, fine. There was juice at the bulb.
I have a new, non-energy-saving bulb in my bathroom ceiling fixture.

Funny, we had problems with the energy-saving bulbs in our kitchen! If we put in a certain combination of them, only one would come on (it’s a 3-bulb fixture). We thought the fixtures were the problem, but it turned out that when we switched out one of the bulbs with a different bulb we had in another fixture in our apartment, then two would come on.
You know, we used to have the fancy energy saving lightbulbs in our ceiling fan in the bedroom. They started to turn on, randomly, in the middle of the night. We thought it was the ceiling fan, going bad. But, we changed back to regular bulbs and – PRESTO! – no more ghost in the fan. Weird.
CN Heidelberg – it’s very strange that these bulbs would have such problems. I use them in my lamps by my bed and couches without any issues. I actually use halogen lights in my hallway, kitchen, and above my dining room tables, but those lights are not on that much.
MT – very strange. Maybe you needed to chase the ghosts away with garlic?
