Sunday (Paoli, Marengo Cave, Ohio River, and Gus Grissom) in Pictures French Toast at Wee Willie's on S. Walnut in Bloomington. This is one of my favorite breakfasts in the world and every time I come to Bloomington I make a point of eating this. The restaurant is a local's joint.
I passed through Paoli, Indiana, which had a huge fire last November. The post-fire rubble is still there, and it includes a bank vault in the middle. The computer keyboard caught my eye.
Paioli is the county seat of Orange County, Indiana, and this is the Courthouse. Like most Indiana County Courthouses, it's impressive.
I met The Travelling PhD at Marengo Cave -- halfway (roughly) between her home and Bloomington. We did both tours and had a great time.
In Marengo Cave is this beautiful waterfall.
After finishing up the cave tours, we headed further south and ate lunch at the Overlook Restaurant -- excellent view of the river, but our food wasn't that wonderful.
After we separated, I headed north, pausing in Mitchell, Indiana, to view the Gus Grissom Memorial. Lawrence County Indiana is home to three NASA Astronauts, and Gus Grissom was born in Mitchell. He died in 1967 during a pre-launch test of the Apollo program.
