Celebrating IDAHO – International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia 2012, Berlin

US Liberty Berlin Bear with a Pride Toga!Last Thursday was IDAHO – The International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.

It was also the day that my American Friend arrived, and so I gave him a walking tour of Berlin, covering all the most important spots — and as we walked past the American Embassy, we spotted the Rainbow-Pride Flag Toga draped over the Berliner Bear that is the Libärty standing just inside.

Earlier today I posted the EU Parliament video talking directly to the youth of Europe about making it better and I wished that a bipartisan US Congress would make such a video — it will be years before the Republicans in the Congress get their heads out of their asses enough for this to happen, and I lost sight of the fact, while watching the video of the EU Parliament of where, exactly, the United States is right now.

But getting this photo reminded me of that spark of pride I felt upon seeing the Libärty wearing a Gay Pride Toga.

The United States has come so far under President Obama, made such extraordinary leaps into the future — and this bear captures so much of the changes that are making the United States a better place, and making the world a better place.
