I’m in Denver, briefly, visiting my family and seeing my Mom’s new house.
So far I haven’t made any accidental trips to the old house, my car has managed to find its way to the new address without error each and every time. I bet I head to the old house the next time I visit.
Meanwhile, Denver seems to be getting better – when I left Denver, I never wanted to return, and while I don’t want to return anytime soon, it seems to be improving in good ways.
Strangely, what’s bewitched me the most on this trip is the sun-rise and sun-set. It happens so much later and earlier here than it does in Berlin. When I left Berlin, I could see glimmers of sunlight if I woke up at 4 and glanced out the window. Here it is completely dark. Conversely, in the evenings the sun is basically down by 9pm – in Berlin, there was still light at 10:30, if not 11.
The worst moment for me was down in San Diego when I wanted to go for a late evening walk – mentally I expected sunlight. In reality I got street lights.
I guess I like Berlin – although I do pay the piper in December when the sun comes up after I’ve arrived at the office, and it goes down before I head home.
Hi, Adamo! Have fun in Denver. Tomorrow morning will be leaving URI for DC.
Was für ein netter Beitrag, ich fand diese verwirrten Licht – Erwartungen einfach – sympathisch, ja, das trifft es.
The sun is never up when I go to work!
