A Short Weekend Trip to Prague

Charles Bridge

One of the “nooks” on the Charles Bridge featured this sculpture of men in agony.

Some how, between my birthday, the Berlinale, and the fact that I’ve had three nasty colds over the past four weeks, it totally escaped me that I hadn’t posted about Prague.

I was in Prague for a weekend at the beginning of February: down Thursday evening, back up Sunday morning.

The weekend went as planned, save for the fact that it was, perhaps, a wee bit too cold for my plans as planned: I’d planned on wandering the city looking at tourist attractions, watching the guards change, and the like – however the temperatures were floating around zero with a slight breeze and lots of clouds

Yeah, I didn’t fully think that one out. Next time I hit Prague up it will be warmer, and, hopefully, sunnier.

Skull on an arm

DOX is Prague’s contemporary art museum, and like all contemporary art museums, it features some dodgy art. Like this piece.

Regardless, I had a good time.

Communist Flag on the car

Prague’s National Technical Museum killed several hours — it’s an absolute delight to visit. I adored this communist official’s car, complete with the waving flag built into the hood.

Don't be a Maybe

Marlboro brought it’s stupid ass campaign to the Czech Republic. Fuck Marlboro.

Non-Stop Parking

I noticed several “Non-Stop” parking lots around Prague. Some how it seems oddly contradictory.

That’s *exactly* how I felt about Prague. Beautiful city, but COLD.
