Tonight Berlin (and the northern portion of the planet) has its shortest night of the year – it’s 11:00 and just now getting dark. It’s also the evening of Fête de la Musique, the annual evening of free concerts around the city.
After an extremely enjoyable dinner with pleasant company, we ended up listening to Hard Beat Five on the Matzbach stage, located on Bergmanstrasse. The rock band played a number of crowd favorites, and my favorite audience members were the women watching from the balcony above the stage.
We also had FdlM in my town but it was more like cover versions of Tracy Chapman and crap. Those ladies on the balcony totally rock.
We got lucky… we had a late/slow dinner, so we only had time for one outdoor band before quiet hour rules kicked in. The band did great covers of great songs and the crowd loved it.
