I acquired this cloth shopping bag in 2018 while visiting Paris.
I was in Paris for one night – with the only objective being to visit the Canadian Cultural Centre where I could see a Kent Monkman exhibition.
The shopping bag is what I carried the exhibition catalogue home in – part of the purchase.
I do not actually use this shopping bag regularly – its criminal flaw is that is white – pristine white – thus able to show dirt a little too easily. Instead I store it on a shelf next to my coats, where I see it semi-regularly and smile – because it transports me back to the exhibition.
Beyond the exhibition, I still do not get Paris and I have no urge to return in the near future.
During the Covid-19 crisis, I am going to try and make a point of writing a blog post about an object in my home.
We’ll see how long this lasts.
