Whatchamacallit 136: Colorado Rockies Hat / Go Pokes

Wyoming Rockies Hat

I acquired this hat on August 8, 2018, while attending University of Wyoming Night at the Colorado Rockies – hence it has Steamboat (the bucking horse) and his rider in Colorado Rockies colors and “Go Pokes” embroidered down the side. A tasteful CR logo adorns the back.

The game was against the Pittsburgh Pirates – I went with a friend who, at the time, was working for the University of Wyoming Foundation.

Because he had purchased tickets via the right website, the hat was a free gift for attending – I wore an appropriate UWyo T-shirt and this hat.

Honestly, the first thing I said after we got the hat from the one distribution point out in center field was that the hat was of far higher quality than I had expected it to be. Given the nature of the circumstances – promotional night at a baseball game – I would have expected it to be rather chintzy, good for one or two wearing before disintegrating into something you keep at the back of the closet or toss in the trash.

While I am not a hat person, it is on that I am willing to wear – adjustable so that it comfortably fits my oversized noggin, it fits perfectly.

The Rockies are currently atop the National League West – Lets hope they stay Covid-19 free and that they win the World Series.

Action by the Wyoming Cowboys, I fear, will be much more limited this fall.

During the Covid-19 crisis, I am going to try and make a point of writing a blog post about an object in my home.

We’ll see how long this lasts.
