On June 12, 2020, the Pulse nightclub in Orlando was the site of horrific mass shooting: 49 dead, 53 wounded.
While I’ve already mentioned attending a memorial at Brandenburg Tor (Whatchamacallit 89: #BerlinForOrlando #LoveIsLove), this comic book is another reminder of that tragic day.
It was also a fundraiser, will all proceeds going to the victims, survivors, and their families, via Equality Florida.
Taking a moment to pause and reflect on the Pulse Nightclub shooting, well, requires a pause.
These crimes committed out of hate must stop.
I fear that we have not seen the last of them.
It is incredibly difficult to write something coherent, sympathetic, empathetic, and focused – it is so easy (and in my nature) to slip into cynicism – but this is something where cynicism must be avoided. That’s the easy route. This must be confronted.
During the Covid-19 crisis, I am going to try and make a point of writing a blog post about an object in my home.
We’ll see how long this lasts.
