Whatchamacallit 92: Navajo Turquoise Bracelet

Navajo Turquoise BraceletI bought the above turquoise bracelet in 2013 while visiting New Mexico – the same trip when I bought Whatchamacallit 18, the Navajo Plant Dye Chart.

As I’ve noted before, I am not really a huge jewelry person, rarely wearing it. This is one of those things that I rarely wear. That’s not to say that it isn’t pretty, it is – but I do not wear frequently because (1) it is heavy, and (2) I have to take it off if I am working because it affects the way I type – in large part due to its aforementioned weight.

I do not recall how much I paid for this – I bought it at a trading post somewhere along US 64, west of Farmington, New Mexico, east of the Arizona border; probably east of Shiprock. I paid cash for it – that I do remember.

This a pretty rock solid, strong, piece of jewelry – I own more delicate examples of Native American jewelry for men, which I imagine will come up at some point.

During the Covid-19 crisis, I am going to try and make a point of writing a blog post about an object in my home.

We’ll see how long this lasts.
