Going Nowhere

I started today off being highly productive and efficient: I marched down to the Weimar Office and started work.

And then my Hausmeister called, and I packed up and headed home: the plumber was coming sometime between 10 and 12—and he did. He arrived at 10:30, looked at the leaking water meter and promptly took out his handy and started dialing. Fifteen minutes later he assured me that he couldn’t fix the problem and that somebody would come today to fix it for me.

Today.

No specific time issued.

So much for my plans to go grocery shopping, take a walk, hang out in the Weimar Office, or leaving the house!

Eventually the Hausmeister called and told me that the Water Meter Company would come at 7pm to fix the broken meter—so I was able to relax some and not feel on edge waiting for the doorbell.

I did get some other work done, so it wasn’t a total wash, but the concentration and speed with which I was working at the Weimar Office this morning was never regained. It’s just after 7 now and the man is here, getting parts to fix the problem. I think I will go pack for my trip!
