Laramie Project, 10 Years Later

Thankfully I didn’t make a decision about my October trip yesterday.

This morning I saw a Tweet by @milkjosh:

Laramie Project: Ten Years Later ~ A film about murdered gay teen Matthew Shepard ~ http://digs.by/A0

After seeing this, I did a bit of research–read an article in The New York Times.  The authors of the Laramie Project have gone back and revisited the people they interviewed for the original play, doing so last year, 10 years after Matthew Shepard’s murder:

As always, what we found defied expectations,” Mr. Kaufman said. “It’s a fallacy to try to define Laramie the way one would describe an individual. There are 27,000 people in Laramie. There are at least 27,000 Laramies.”

This coming October 12th, they will be holding readings of the “epilogue” in a number of cities, thus marking the 11th anniversary of Matthew Shepard’s death.

Originally I was planning to fly home from the States that afternoon. Now that I know, I’ve decided to delay my return to the following day in order to make the performance.
