I figured that after heaping praise on Butthole Lickin’ yesterday that my luck was going to run out and that Saturday night’s feature film, a “lesbian comedy” was going to suck and that for 70 minutes I would be watching time go by so very, very slowly. Instead I’d like to report that “And Then […] I’m about to make a claim that may or may not be true, but from my perspective the vast majority of lesbian films are awful. I’ve suffered through Go Fish and The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant, to name two of the worst. Lesbian films are filled with women sitting around and talking with […] Even though my birthday’s not quite here, yet, Mateo and Chaz have already given me my birthday present: a weekend pass to this year’s Pride Film Festival in Bloomington, Indiana. Thus the timing of this trip to the States has worked out magnificently and instead of finding myself looking for things to do on the […] The Buskirk Chumley Indiana Theater, Bloomington This weekend is the Pride Film Festival here in Bloomington, and I am going every single night! After figuring out how to navigate the festival’s calendar I realized that I’ve already seen two of the films: Patrick 1.5 and Coming Out. The former I watched with my Pseudo […] #1 Screen Since moving to Weimar, I’ve always known Weimar to have two movie theaters: a branch of the national theater chain, Cinestar, and a local cinema, mon ami. After a local […] I’ll be the first to admit that I rewatched Brokeback Mountain last week because of my impending trip to Wyoming, but to say that the film is Wyoming related would be like saying that the best way to prepare for visiting Pittsburgh is to watch the Queer as Folk. All of that aside, Brokeback Mountain […] First things first: I haven’t read any reviews of Brüno, the film. I have, awhile back, read criticism of Brüno, in general. This means that the specülative things I am aboüt to püt forth are exactly that: specülation. Second things second: The film is absolütely positively hilarioüs to the point where ones sides coüld start […] Now admittedly I haven’t had as much time to sit in front of the television and watch stuff as I had originally planned, but two things intervened. First, I popped over to the UK for a friend’s going away party and secondly, I’ve been cat sitting. Admittedly, I have been watching “Dead Like Me” whilst […] Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver It’s been a great week in Denver. Unfortunately in less than 24 hours I will be winging my way east toward Old Europe, leaving behind my family for the land of good bread. Whilst in Denver, not only did I buy five pair of blue jeans, I also picked […] Now Showing! One thing I am especially thankful for this year is the fact that I was in the States on the opening day for Gus van Sant’s newest film, Milk. Seeing the film reminded me of the many thanks I owe my gay forbearers. Yesterday I found myself outside the Mayan box-office window […] |
