This is the first of three weekends where I am taking exciting trips to lands more distant an hour from Weimar. Tomorrow I head up to Bremen for the Fourth Annual Whiney Expatriate Blogger Meet-Up. Without many of the trappings, I was in the Christmas Spirit – it helped that I was eating Lindt Christmas Chocolate. Yet, Friday evening, as I wandered the Jena Christmas Market, I found myself annoyed with Christmas. The multiple booths selling Christmas-themed shit […] I’m not sure, but I think I might be getting sick again – so much so that if I hadn’t had a mountain of work to do today I would have stayed in bed and slept it off. Instead I shared my germs with the office and finished the major project, whilst starting another project […] Today was a rather quiet day, in most respects. There were really two principal things that I did: I went to the Tate Modern and went to see The History Boys. Along the way, I did some shopping at Foyles, wandered the streets, and took a Walk of the University Quarter. Of all the museums […] I headed to London today, getting up at 5:15, catching a train that got me to the Frankfurt airport just before 10. My flight to London City was scheduled for 11:45, but was delayed until 12:30. The flight was uneventful until the landing–the landing was the roughest landing I’ve ever had–even worse than my landing […] So whilst I am going to the UK to have several meetings (London, Cheltenham), meetings will not be the only thing I do whilst there. I fully plan on having fun with a trip to the Tate Modern (and a ride down its famous slides), doing a London Walk, or two, and whatever else can […] I have one of those colds/sore throats where I feel slightly disembodied—you know the type. There’s always a stuffy nose and a vague disassociated headache attached and one feels like sleeping—a lot. On the plus side, I managed to get a lot of the project out of the way—the mindless part, staring at the computer […] I haven’t been in a writing mood this week—which explains the complete and total lack of anything to read on this blog.
